Elections: taking part in elections in your country of origin
If you are an Italian citizen, resident in another EU Member State for any type of election held in Italy, you have the same rights to vote and stand as a candidate as compatriots resident in Italy.
Elections in the country of origin
For municipal and constituency elections and for regional elections, to exercise the right to vote you must cast your vote in the Italian municipality on whose electoral roll you are included and cannot vote remotely.
For elections to the Italian Chamber of Deputies and Senate, you can vote by post for candidates standing for the Overseas constituency. You can otherwise opt to vote and may request to vote in Italy, in the Municipality on whose electoral roll you are included, for candidates standing for the relevant constituency in national territory, giving written notice to the diplomatic or consular representations.
